Case Study: Sakhile's Layer Project
In the heart of the Hhohho region in Bulembu, Sakhile started a small layer chicken enterprise with a vision of supplying fresh eggs to his local community. Despite his determination, one of his biggest challenges was limited production capacity. With only a small flock and inadequate poultry housing, he struggled to meet the growing demand for eggs from local households and businesses. Expanding the enterprise required better management practices, improved housing, and access to resources that would enable him to increase production and build a sustainable source of income.
"The support from IYF was more than just money; it was trust. It allowed me to start my egg business, which I could only dream of before."
The E3,000 seed capital provided by Imphumelelo Yensha Foundation covered the cost of the 17 Chicken Layers. This strategic investment is a perfect example of how targeted small capital can lead to exponential growth in rural enterprises.
